Lucy Goldbart – Profile

Lucy Goldbart Interior Design Studio – Founder and Director

Background

Lucy Goldbart is the founder and creative director of Lucy Goldbart Interior Design, a London-based studio working on residential projects throughout the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, and the United States. With a decade of experience in the industry, Goldbart spent six of those years working within established London design studios, building expertise across both the creative and operational aspects of the profession before launching her own practice.

Before launching her own firm, Goldbart spent six years working within established London design studios, gaining experience across both the creative and operational aspects of the profession. Throughout that time, she envisioned eventually building a practice of her own, using those years to refine her skills and better understand how successful design businesses operate.

The turning point came when she secured a major residential project on a private island in Antigua. What began as a cold proposal quickly evolved into the foundation of a new business and provided the opportunity to establish her studio on her own terms.

Approach

Goldbart’s work begins with understanding the character of a place and the people who will live there. Rather than applying a predetermined style, she develops a concept for each project that reflects its location, context, and intended atmosphere.

An early stage of every project focuses on what she describes as the look and feel, a presentation that defines the emotional and visual direction before detailed design work begins. This process helps establish a clear vision while creating a framework for later decisions.

Her projects are known for balancing sophistication with comfort. While she appreciates bold materials, sculptural forms, and strong visual statements, she believes homes should feel approachable and functional rather than overly formal.

Goldbart remains closely involved throughout the design process and continues to oversee every project personally, ensuring that the original vision carries through from concept to completion.

Beyond Design

Travel, art, architecture, antiques, and vintage furniture all play a role in shaping Goldbart’s creative perspective. She draws inspiration from places, objects, and environments that reveal a strong sense of identity, whether through materiality, craftsmanship, or cultural influence.

Her time living in Paris introduced her to the city’s renowned flea markets and deepened her appreciation for vintage pieces and collected interiors. She continues to explore how historic references and contemporary design can coexist within a space.

As her studio has grown, Goldbart has also become increasingly focused on building a sustainable business and finding balance between professional ambition and personal life. While entrepreneurship requires flexibility and long hours, she values creating boundaries that allow both creativity and growth to remain sustainable over time.

Today, her work reflects a combination of careful research, international perspective, and a commitment to creating homes that feel elevated, personal, and genuinely lived in.
