Founder, Principal Interior Designer
Background

Timala Stewart is the founder and principal designer of Decurated Interiors, a design studio that blends interior design expertise with a strong foundation in sourcing, merchandising, and procurement.
Before launching her business, Stewart spent nearly a decade working within the furniture industry as a buyer. Her role required a deep understanding of products, sourcing strategies, manufacturing, and consumer preferences, giving her a perspective that would later influence her approach to design.
Her transition into entrepreneurship began during the pandemic when she started helping friends create home offices through virtual design services. What began as a practical solution during an unusual moment quickly evolved into a growing business and a new career path.
Approach
Stewart approaches design through a collaborative lens, helping clients translate ideas, preferences, and inspiration into cohesive spaces that reflect how they live.

Her early focus on e design allowed her to work with clients across multiple states while developing systems that support remote collaboration. Through client onboarding tools, visual design platforms, and clear communication, she created a process designed for clients who are comfortable engaging with design digitally.
Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, Stewart’s work is informed by her background in sourcing and procurement. She understands both the creative and operational sides of the industry, allowing her to guide projects with a balance of design vision and practical execution.
She also recognizes that every client arrives with a different understanding of design terminology and preferences. Part of her role is helping translate those ideas into a finished concept that feels both personal and functional.
Beyond Design
In addition to interior design services, Stewart provides procurement consulting and training for other designers. Drawing on her corporate experience, she helps design teams improve systems, streamline workflows, and better manage the procurement process.
She is also actively involved in the design community, serving on the board of a local design guild and participating in speaking engagements and panels
Outside of her client work, Stewart continues to explore creative pursuits including painting, dance, photography, and music. She is particularly passionate about building community and recently launched Decurated IRL, an event series that brings creatives together through hands on experiences and shared inspiration.
Whether through design projects, consulting, education, or community building, Stewart’s work is united by a commitment to creativity, problem solving, and helping others move their ideas forward.
