Founder, Principal Designer – Prudence Bailey Interior Design
Background
Prudence Bailey is an interior designer whose career began outside of the design industry. She studied graphic design and illustration before moving into sales roles within both the technology and fashion sectors. For many years, her professional path was rooted in those industries.
Her transition into interior design came later, during a period of personal and professional change. After finding it difficult to return to her previous field, she began exploring design as a new direction. Encouraged by others who responded to her own home, she decided to pursue it, despite having no prior experience or established network in the industry.
What followed was a self driven start, taking on projects of all sizes and building her practice through direct experience.

Approach
Bailey’s work is grounded in function, problem solving, and understanding how a space needs to perform in daily life. Rather than approaching design as a purely visual exercise, she treats each project as a puzzle, balancing layout, use, and aesthetics.
She works closely with clients to understand how they live and what they need from their space, using that as the foundation for design decisions. This often includes incorporating personal preferences such as color, pattern, and artwork in ways that feel intentional and specific to each project.
Her process is shaped by doing the work, learning through experience, and adapting to the needs of each client rather than following a fixed formula.

Beyond Design
In addition to the creative side of her work, Bailey manages the operational aspects of running a design business. This includes coordinating with contractors and vendors, managing communication, and overseeing the many details that keep projects moving forward.
She views problem solving as a central part of her role, addressing challenges as they arise and maintaining momentum throughout the process.
Building her business required consistency and persistence, particularly in establishing visibility and attracting clients over time. That steady effort continues to shape how she approaches growth today.
Outside of work, she places importance on creating space to reset, stepping away when needed to maintain balance and return to projects with a clear perspective.
