Elizabeth Ryan – Profile

Founder and Principal, Elizabeth Ryan Interiors

Background

Elizabeth Ryan is the founder and principal designer of Elizabeth Ryan Interiors, a Texas-based studio known for its balanced, intentional, and deeply personal spaces. Raised across Europe in a military family, Elizabeth was exposed early to classical architecture, art history, and cultural nuance, all of which continue to influence her work today.

She began her academic path in engineering before shifting to interior design, drawn to the emotional resonance and creative possibility of shaping how people live. With a strong foundation in structure and proportion, she brings both artistic sensitivity and practical insight to every project. Her firm, co-led with her husband Adam Ryan, has grown from a passion project into a full-service studio with a reputation for thoughtful, collaborative work.

Approach

Elizabeth believes the best interiors begin with deep listening. Through a guided discovery process that includes interviews, questionnaires, and open conversation, she and her team uncover what clients truly love and need from their spaces. Rather than imposing a specific style, she seeks to elevate each client’s taste with warmth, polish, and attention to detail.

Her work is grounded in contrast and character pairing softness with structure, tradition with modernity, and personal history with fresh perspective. Whether editing a collection of guitars into a curated moment or drawing from French influences to reinterpret a traditional home, she brings a refined and tailored approach to every project.

Beyond Design

Elizabeth draws constant inspiration from museums, medieval architecture, and the craftsmanship found in history’s most enduring buildings. She is equally passionate about the business side of design and credits her partnership with Adam for building a foundation that allows creativity to thrive.

In both design and leadership, she values humility, clarity, and connection. She encourages young designers to develop their eye through sketching, to gain inspiration beyond the algorithm, and to separate their ego from the work in service of creating something meaningful for others.
