Founder & Principal, Amy Switzer Design
Background
Amy Switzer is a Dallas-based interior designer with a distinctive background in textile design and product development. After nearly two decades designing mass-market products and licensed collections for major retailers and celebrity brands, she decided it was time to shift gears and pursue a more personal creative path.
Her career began in New York City, where she launched a bedding manufacturer at just 28 years old, an experience that sharpened both her business acumen and creative instincts.
Eventually, Amy made a bold pivot, stepping away from the mass-market world to focus fully on interior design, a field she first explored in college but never formally pursued. She launched her firm during maternity leave, building a portfolio from the ground up and quickly growing through word-of-mouth referrals and meaningful community connections.
Approach
Amy’s design philosophy centers on emotional resonance, functionality, and personalization. Rather than imposing a singular aesthetic, she tailors every space to the client’s lifestyle and goals. Her style is eclectic and layered, informed by her deep understanding of materials, textiles, and how people truly live.
She brings the same thoughtful energy to children’s rooms as she does to primary spaces, believing every room, no matter who it’s for, should reflect care and intention. Amy’s designs often feature bold color, texture, and storytelling, with a sensitivity to growth and longevity.
Beyond Design
Amy is deeply engaged in the Dallas design community, participating in local initiatives like Dwell with Dignity and building lasting relationships through organizations like Interior Design Society. Though naturally introverted, she credits these connections with helping her thrive in a new city.
Her background in product development continues to influence her work, especially when it comes to custom design. Whether creating one-of-a-kind matchbook wallpaper or helping clients envision bespoke furnishings, she draws on years of experience bridging creativity and commerce.
